EVENT DURING LABACE WILL DISCUSS BRAZIL’S INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE 2014 WORLD CUP AND THE 2016 OLYMPICS
"Mega Events: Infrastructure and business jets” is the theme of an event which will take place on August 12, from 3:30 to 5:00 PM during Labace 2010, the world’s second largest business aviation event, taking place in São Paulo (Congonhas Airport). The agenda is a discussion of Brazil’s infrastructure for so-called mega events, such as the soccer World Cup in 2014 and the 2016 Olympics.
Important names will participate in the debate, including Peter R. Ingleton, director of IBAC (International Business Aviation Council); Edward M. Bolen, president and CEO of the NBAA (National Business Aircraft Association), who will speak of the American experience in mega events; and Sam Barone, also of the NBAA, who will speak of the Canadian experience with the Olympic Games; and also Hans-Henning Romberg, of the German aviation association. Romberg will speak of Berlin’s experience in hosting the World Cup final in 2006.
“It will be fundamental to know challenges, successes and shortcomings with events of this size, focusing on the enormous flux of aircraft bringing event sponsors and partners”, said Francisco Lyra, president of ABAG (Brazilian General Aviation Association), organizer of LABACE 2010. Those present will include Brazilian Air Force Lieutenant-General Ramon Borges Cardoso, Director-General of DECEA (the Department of Air Space Control) speaking on “The Air Traffic of the Future” and Dr. Jaime Henrique Caldas Parreira, director of Engineering and the Environment for Infraero, the Brazilian state airport infrastructure company. Parreira will speak on the planning of investments from 2010 to 2016 for airports in cities that will host the World Cup and the Olympics.
